My Top 7 Tips For Your Best Graduation Photo Shoot!

It’s almost my favorite time of the year: Graduation photo shoot season! I’ve been on my fair share of graduation photo shoots, so I thought I would share some tips so your session goes perfectly! I’ll be using these tips myself this year when I get my own graduation photos taken, and these can also be used for any photo session. My goal is for you to feel your most confident in front of the camera and have a fun time, so hopefully these tips help you out!

1. Bring another pair of shoes

If you’re planning on wearing heels and shooting in multiple locations, I’d recommend bringing another pair of shoes you can easily slip on (like Birkenstocks) to wear when walking between locations! Trust me, it’ll make your session MUCH more enjoyable.

2. Bring a buddy!

It’s nice to bring someone along to your session who can help hold your extra items (robe, shoes, makeup, etc.) and it also makes it more fun having someone to share the experience with! Bonus, they can jump in a few pictures with you!

3. Bring makeup for touch ups

I’d recommend bringing a few key makeup products to touch up throughout your session. The most important ones are powder and lipstick/gloss because the camera can sometimes make you look shiny and lip products help accentuate your beautiful smile:)

4. Take a few photos without all of your graduation accessories

You never know when you’re going to need a nice photo of yourself, so I’d recommend taking a few pictures without your cap, gown, stole, etc.

5. Do a makeup and hair look that makes you feel confident

Now is not the time to experiment! I’d recommend using makeup products you know will work for you and styling your hair in a way you know you like. If you have a different makeup or hair look you want to wear for your session, I would recommend practicing it a few days in advance to make sure you like it!

6. Look up some pose inspiration before your session

Don’t worry, I’ll be there to guide and pose you throughout your session; however, it is nice to have some ideas of what you want beforehand! Feel free to check out my Pinterest board if you don’t know where to start!

7. HAVE FUN!!!

Most importantly, HAVE FUN! This is the time to celebrate your incredible accomplishments over the years and capture memories you’ll have forever. So have fun with it and enjoy your session!
